User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:72.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/72.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Open menu -> Options -> General -> Applications
- Setup open pdf document in external application
- Open document with space in name https://www.mass.gov/files/documents/2018/09/28/ID Documents Checklist_0918.pdf
Actual results:
PDF viewer starting, but screen is blank
Expected results:
The document must be open in the application.
Similar behavior is observed for links type ".magnet" and ".torrent"
The document without a space in the name (https://www.dps.texas.gov/internetforms/Forms/DL-15.pdf) opens correctly.
This behavior is found in FF71. In previous versions, the processing is correct. Presumably, there is no name quotas for transferring to the application.

Hi Lecron,
Thanks for reporting this issue.
I was unable to reproduce it on my end. I was hoping you could answer some questions for me, please:
-
Which version of FF are you running?
-
You mention this not happening in previous versions. Do you know which version the issue started in?
-
Does this issue happen in a new Firefox profile (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles)?
-
Does this issue happen if you run Firefox in Safe Mode?
If you try and answer these questions for me, I will have a better chance of reproducing this issue.
Thanks

- FF 72.0.1 x64 on Windows 10 x64 lts 1607. Additional information from "about:support" attached to the issue
- FF 70 is correct, FF 71 has problem
- new profile: repeateble
- safe mode: repeateble
During testing, I found interesting behavior.
The downloaded file (for example "ID Documents Checklist_0918-1.pdf") is displayed in the download list (icon with hint "Display the progress of ongoing downloads (Ctrl-J)").
If open the file from the pop-up window with a single click, we have a problem. If you go to a separate window (Ctrl-J) or to the "about:downloads" tab, double-clicking opens successfully.

I suspect this is bug 1601905. Can you try a beta build ( https://beta.mozilla.org ) to see if this is fixed in 73 for you?
