If a user sets a website to always open in a container tab, then navigating to that website from a regular tab overwrites the regular tab.
For example, assume a user sets example.com to open in a container. If they open example.com from a search result page on a search engine, the regular tab is replaced with a container tab.
It clearly designed to mimic the regular tab behaviour because if the user selects to open the link in a new tab, it will keep the regular tab open as well. The issue with overwriting the regular tab by default is that the tab history is lost, so the user cannot easily navigate back to the previous page.
Perhaps links that open in a container tab should always be opened in a new container tab without overwriting the regular tab.
