User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/80.0.3987.100 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
I wrote some lines on how to use an SVG as a favicon for a website, considering the light and dark theme detection in the browser using the CSS prefers-color-scheme media feature. (https://catalin.red/svg-favicon-light-dark-theme/)
I was happy to notice Firefox already had support for SVG favicons, while the latest Chrome with this feature was just about to be released. So, yay! (https://caniuse.com/#feat=link-icon-svg)
While doing my research and testing things out, I've noticed an inconsistency when it comes fo Firefox browser tabs design, when switching system themes (light vs dark).
Actual results:
- Firefox tabs in dark mode are dark for both active and other tabs.
- Firefox tabs in light mode are inverted.
Tested on stable 73 and Nightly 75.0a1
Expected results:
-
The above can cause inconsistencies for example when trying to decide on an SVG favicon design.
-
Also, considering the light or dark system theme selection, the Firefox browser should respect the theme choice and style the tabs accordingly maybe.
To summarize, in my opinion, Firefox tabs in light mode should be light-colored and not inverted.

FWIW, I added a similar issue on Chromium as well.
