Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:72.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/72.0

Steps to reproduce:

I often do research on how to do things which often results in MANY tabs with bits of information here and there about the subject.
Bookmarks are nice but it can also be difficult trying to organize them per research topic/binge and be able to recover a particular group of information spread across multi pages on a bigger topic.

Expected results:

I ask that Firefox gains an addition feature where like when 'restoring sessions" you may save sessions under your Firefox account. It just needs to be a group of Http addresses which all open in new tabs on a new window, when you open the saved 'session' or 'group'. It would be nice to be able to add a simple title and perhaps tags if you want to really expand on this feature idea.

EX theory simpler..?: You could even just expand on Bookmarks, making a single file 'bookmark group' which holds multi Http address and when executed opens them all into new tabs on same or a new window.

You could even just expand on Bookmarks, making a single file 'bookmark group' which holds multi Http address and when executed opens them all into new tabs on same or a new window.

How is that any different from bookmark folders?

  • To open them in a new window, Shift+Left-click
  • To open them in new tabs,
    • Ctrl+Left-click
    • Middle-click
    • Right-click, "Open All in Tabs"
    • Hover to expand, "Open All in Tabs" at the bottom

To bookmark multiple tabs into a folder,

  • For all tabs in a window, Ctrl+Shift+D or open the Bookmarks menu on the menu bar and choose "Bookmark All Tabs…"
  • For specific tabs, Shift+Left-click to select them, then right-click one and choose "Bookmark Tabs…"

Yes that is another way of doing it but with more work then should be needed.
Say you are researching Xbox (1 of 100 topics) Xbox has say 100 topics under it. 1 of 100 of those topics under it then = another say 10 pages.
You start making 100 folders for 1 BASE topic for particulars holding the 10 pages each.
You have to go to each page, bookmark, and sort through a drop down list of 500+ folders you may have and add each page to that one folder.

Perhaps make a bookmark option for the whole session to save under 1 folder.

That is all, Thank you for your time.

I still don't see how "saving sessions" is different from bookmarking all tabs in a window, aside perhaps from the added convenience of not having to manually take any action, or the data mentioned in bug 1215714. I'll move this to Firefox :: Sync so someone will have a look.

Adding Vesta for visibility on this product feedback, because this kind of sounds similar in spirit to the new "collections" feature on Fenix (although this specific request is about Desktop).
