Details
Having a modal dialog whenever one visits a site that requires a HTTP Basic authentication login is unusable for many users.
If it would work similar to how saving passwords for cookie based logins does then it would be much better. A small window in the upper left where users could select "Login with username foo passphrase bar {once,automatically}", "Never login automatically on this site" etc.
