Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:75.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/75.0
Steps to reproduce:
-
Use Nightly. 20200302212732
-
Force enable Wayland.
-
Restart
Actual results:
See screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/HME4b0L.png
No text is rendered and there are some other strange graphical glitches.
NOTE: I think this is a regression (or is potentially tied to Mesa version/driver, I can try to rule this out). I had been using Wayland+WebRender for quite a while throughout Jan/Feb without major issues.
Expected results:
It should have rendered properly.

If you can figure out when it broke using mozregression it'd be amazing :)

Which compositor / distro do you run?

Compositor=Sway
Distro=NixOS (mesa 19.3.3)
I've been on Mesa 19.x the whole time, and I've tried again with Iris and default i915/965 drivers. Still repros. I'm going to try old build versions with nixpkgs-mozilla to see if I can narrow down when it regressed. I know it was AFTER the regression around wayland+webrender+scaling, so I'm going to start there.

"no text on webrender" has usually been because glxtest is not succeeding..
Do you have xwayland enabled? try changing that in sway config (restarting sway of course)

When this has happened to me in the past, closing firefox and purging mesa's cache (rm -rfv ~/.cache/mesa_shader_cache/*) has fixed things. I don't know why this works though (the actual problem could be something else and this just so happens to fix things for me).

I can't seem to tell any difference, enabled or disabled, and whether or not I'm running a patched X11/XWayland.

That did the trick, or at least my WebRender profile seems to be working normally again after taking that step.
I think I'm still in an Iris session, but I can confirm in a regular i965 session too (and it might be interesting to see if a cache clear is necessary again, etc).
