Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Enabled gfx.webrender.all
- Updated Firefox to version 74
- Started Firefox
Actual results:
After Firefox restored my tabs, the window froze on the same picture and does not update. The browser itself is responsive. I can switch tabs, even navigate to new pages, I can see it by changing window title, but I cant see it in the window itself. Window size change (switching between floating and tiling in Sway) forces it to render new picture, but does not unfreeze.
Expected results:
Window content updating normally.

To clarify:
With webrender disabled everything works as expectd. Prior firefox 74 update webrender also worked well. And I'm running firefox natively on wayland (with GDK_BACKEND=wayland).

After update to 75 the problem appeared even with webrender disabled. But enabling the pref layers.acceleration.disabled fixed the problem even with enabled webrender. Even though this option is enabled, about:support shows that both opengl compositiong and webrender are force-enabled by pref.

Because this bug's Severity has not been changed from the default since it was filed, and it's Priority is P3 (Backlog,) indicating it has been triaged, the bug's Severity is being updated to S3 (normal.)

After firefox 77 update the freezes happen randomly during the normal use. I can make the firefox window floating and then make it back tiled to unfreeze it (analogue of unmaximazing and maximizing on stacking window managers). This happens with both webrender and opengl compositing.

Are you able to reproduce this on nightly? Can you provide your about:support from nightly as well? (In case there is a hardware component to this)

This was fixed long ago. I use webrender for some time now and I haven't seen this bug in a while.
