Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:74.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/74.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to YouTube
  2. Go into search bar
  3. Search for something
  4. See how the input lags

Actual results:

Since a few days ago I experience lag while typing in the search bar of youtube. I type something like for example "minecraft" the first one or two letters apear and after like 5 sec or so the other letters appear. While it lags, I can't do anything with that tab. (The entire tab freezes but I can still switch tabs normaly.)

This only happens with youtube so far and only with firefox brower. Testet it with edge and there everything works as expected.

Add-on: "UBlock Origin" and "Watch2Gether Extension"

Expected results:

No lag, instant input.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Private Browsing
OS: Unspecified → Windows 10
Product: WebExtensions → Firefox
Hardware: Unspecified → x86_64
Summary: youtube search bar slow → Browser Search bar over all slow

The problem with the lag in the search bar is now also appearing in google search, dunno if it also affects page load time.

Component: Private Browsing → Untriaged

I can't reproduce this issue on Nightly v76.0a1 or Release v74.0 on Windows 10. These are my steps:

  1. Open browser.
  2. Install "UBlock Origin" and "Watch2Gether" extensions.
  3. Go to about:preferences#search and select the "Add search bar in toolbar" radio-button.
  4. Load Youtube.
  5. Type into the search bar on the Youtube tab.
Buggy behavior: The input appears laggy.
Actual: The input seems to behave correctly.

Please try to reproduce this bug in a safe mode. (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-safe-mode)
