User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:73.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/73.0
Steps to reproduce:
Performed a search n the URL bar field using % to search tabs.
Actual results:
If there is more than one tab with the same match, the list of tabs only show sone of them.
Expected results:
Should list ALL matches, even if they are duplicates
(that is one of the reasons for searching tabs).

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Sorry but I do not see how this is a duplicate of 558354. It does NOT appear to be the same.
You can have the SAME URL open in 2 different windows and searching tabs using % leaves out another identical tab in another window, just as an example. This has nothing to do with leftmost vs rightmost tabs, as the other defect talks about.
Please re-open this or clarify how this is a duplicate.

It just so happens Firefox chooses the leftmost tab when duplicate tabs are present, although tbh I'm not sure it's quite that simple. It could choose the rightmost or one in the middle or one at random. It doesn't matter. The core problem that that bug describes and that you've described is that switch-to-tab shows only one tab that matches.
Ok thanks for the reply...but that bug was opened 10 years ago and now closed 2 years ago because no one picked it up. Is there any way to have this picked up and dealt with or is this not going to go anywhere?

That's a fair question. It's reasonable to reevaluate whether we want to address this somehow. I'll open this back up and add the blocked-ux keyword to indicate that it needs input from UX.

P.S. I noticed this was changed to an "enhancement". Should this still not be labelled a "bug"?

It's not a bug because the current switch-to-tab UX is behaving as expected and designed. This bug is asking that it be extended to show all duplicate tabs. tbh though whether it's declared a bug or enhancement doesn't really matter at all in terms of prioritizing or fixing it, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Just to clarify, I guess the expectation of the feature is not just to show A matching tab but to show ALL matching tabs. And even though a tab may be a duplicate URL, the content on each may actually be different (consider login pages that are logged in but do not update the URL, as an example). And if the switch-to-tab feature is leaving out a result, this seems like a bug because there you cannot reach all open tabs using this feature.
But if you say this classification of bug vs enhancement has no bearing, that is fine. Thanks for your clarification.
