While pondering some longer term plans, things like how scene building / render backend / renderer threads interact, I realized I don't have a good idea how blob handling currently works.
Jeff thinks the existing overview at [1] is out of date, so it would be good to update that with a short overview of the current implementation.

The overview is still mostly correct, though quite incomplete. I'll update it to better describe the overall system.
