When I enter a website which requires username and password, after entering the username when i place the cursor in the password field the cursor keep on flickering and the CPU Usage is raised to high.

Thanks for the report. See bug 1451466 comment 33. Assuming you are running Ubuntu 18.04, this is a gnome-shell bug, not a Firefox one. Please do a package update and the problem will be fixed.
