RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 259640

People

(Reporter: federico.piazza, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:75.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/75.0

Steps to reproduce:

Search for a text

Actual results:

The matches are shown in the visible page only

Expected results:

It should show all matches across the page.

I have seen a ticket requesting for this, it was created 16 years ago... so I guess it was lost in the oblivion.

The idea is to have the same feature as Chrome, when searching for something it would be extremely useful to see all highlight matches somewhere... it could be the scrollbar, a new "preview" bar, or whatever place that allows us to quickly view where the matches appear in the whole page.

It's very common that when using a site search box the same word appears in the beginning and the end of the site, so when we ctrl+F and use the word, I have to see these useless matches... wasting time in every site. If we had had the preview, I would have seen that all the matches in the site were useless and continue search in other site.

Please don't intentionally file duplicates.
