1629561 - Multi-Touch Trackpad Gestures on Linux

Expected behaviour: Making three finger swipes performs the gestures configured via browser.gesture.swipe.*

Actual behaviour: No such behaviour.

I have tested this on Linux Wayland and X. The same configuration works fine on MacOS and I have verified that none of the possible actions work, it doesn't seem to be a couple of actions that don't work.

$ libinput list-devices # simplified
Device: ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad
Device: Wacom Intuos PT S Finger

Asynchronous Pan/Zoom: wheel input enabled; touch input enabled; scrollbar drag enabled; keyboard enabled; autoscroll enabled

Similar to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478606 but that is Windows focused.

Are you still experiencing these swiping issues?

If so, what version of Firefox are you using? (please copy & paste the user agent info)

The current version of Firefox appears to be 138 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox

Also, what operating system/Linux distro are you currently using? https://distrowatch.com/

Yes. Unfortunately GNOME and KDE both appear to swallow 3-finger gestures but on COSMIC and a few other DE Firefox still just ignores multi-finger gestures.

Thanks Kevin, are you still using the same "Wacom Intuos PT S Finger" device with "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad" ?

Yes, I still have the same device as well as a laptop trackpad.

I'm using nixos-unstable.
