[Regression] Firefox Nightly instantly crashes upon startup

Steps to reproduce:
Used Firefox Nightly's built-in update function (that little green arrow on the burger menu)
Actual results:
Firefox closed itself
Firefox opened the crash dialog to tell me, that it crashed
Starting Firefox Nightly also directly leads to this crash reporter dialog

Expected results:
Firefox Nightly should not have crashed upon startup.
Downloading the currently packaged nightly binary from the website works. Clicking update from there crashes it again.

I am also able to reliably reproduce this. LMK if I can post any hardware, software, etc. info that would be helpful when it comes to debugging. Running Nightly on Ubuntu 18.04.

I too consistently have this problem. There appears to be no way around it. Since nightly will no longer start, what must I do to get the next update?

A new update of Firefox nightly (77) has made the problem go away. Curious that no one has updated this bug. Perhaps the right people are not monitoring it?

This has been fixed for me as well.
FWIW, I was able to get Nightly running again by re-downloading the archive from Mozilla and unpacking it over my previous Nightly install. This essentially performed a downgrade and then running updates from Help -> About Nightly worked properly.
I tried to replicate this on Ubuntu 18.04 64bit using Firefox nightly build 77.0a1 Build ID 20200423095248
but i was not able to reproduce it.
I just wait some minutes until i have the green arrow to appear, and when i click on it to update it restarts the browser without crashing.
Should be fixed now, it's Bug 1629526.
