Steps to reproduce:

Tried to "send a tab to device"

Actual results:

All Amazon Fire TV Stick devices have the same name. I have 4 Fire TV Stick 4K's in my house and when I try to send to device, all the Fire TV Sticks have the same name.

Expected results:

Please use the user-specified name of the Fire TV stick as the device name in "send to device". Spotify used to have this problem but they were able to extract the Fire TV stick user-specified device name and use it when selecting a device to stream to.

Hello! I don't think this is an actual issue.
Can you please try to sync with firefox on those devices and go to preferences -> device name and change it what you want and then sync again?
Is the problem here that the name of each tv you set in firefox does not sync?

Hello and thank you for responding to this issue!

There’s two device names we’re addressing here: (1) the Amazon Fire TV device name which is set using the Amazon web site and (2) the Firefox app on the Fire TV device name. I set the Amazon Fire TV device name different for each device. For example, “Living Room Fire TV”, “Gym Fire TV” and so forth. However, after installing Firefox it seems to use it’s own device name of “Firefox on Fire TV Stick 4K”. Since I have 4 Amazon Fire TV Sticks in the house, Firefox assigns the same device name to each Fire TV even though the Amazon assigned name to the device is different. The problem is when I want to send a tab to one of the Firefox browsers on one of the Fire TV’s, I can’t because they all have the same name. This is why I consider it a bug, because it’s preventing use of the “send tab” function.

I checked in the settings on the Firefox app on the Fire TV and there is no way to set a device name in the app or on the “Devices & apps” page of the firefox.com web site for my mozilla account.

I can send a video of what I’m talking about if that would help.

I think the bug here is either that there's no way to change the name in the Firefox app, or that the name used is different than the actual user-specified device name, so I'm moving to the FireTV component.

This bug is part of a group of bugs in a security or private group which have the old default Severity of normal which has not been changed, and the default priority of --. This indicates that this bugs Severity should be set to -- so it will show up in triage lists.

That team uses github for normal bugs. Looks like a related issue is https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-tv/issues/2516 where they mention the problem, but I don't think they implemented the personalizing text Bram suggested. I didn't see a follow-up issue.
