My bookmarks are disappearing from the menu when I shutdown & restart Mozilla.
They appear in the Bookmark Manager, and will reappear on the menu if I make
modifications to the bookmarks via the Bookmark Manager(ie. add a new
separator). As you can see from the attached screenshots, all I did was add a
new separator and then select & move all my bookmarks up between the separators,
and then the bookmarks appeared on the main menu again.
I don't know what is causing this problem. The other issue is that at the same
time that this started to happem, the Back & Forward buttons stopped working
comletely. The only way I can move back or forwards is by going to the Go menu
and selecting the appropriate oage there. Those screenshots are attached as
well. As you can see from the main_Go.jpg image, the Back button is not active,
even though I have moved through several pages already.
I have tested this under the Classic theme, just in case it was a theme issue,
but the problems still exist.
I wish I could remember what I did before the problem appeared. Updates of
Mozilla make no difference, and I really don't want to completely uninstall
Mozilla either just to fix this problem, though I will if I have to.
I will attach all screenshots:

did this only happen after you install a new build in a directory
where an older build used to reside?

You should install in a clean/empty directory..
and always add the build ID in a bug report (i know that i can see it in the
screenshots)
uninstall mozilla, delete all files except the polugins folder and reinstall
mozilla.

FIXED IT!!!
I read the comments in Bug #160980. After reading them, I shutdown Mozilla,
renamed compreg.dat, and then restarted Mozilla.
The bookmarks are back, the Back & Forward buttons work again, Ctrl-click opens
a new tab.
Thankfully, I don't have to reinstall Mozilla, I really didn't want to wipe out
all my bookmarks and saved passwords, etc.

Note : A clean install (uninstalling, deleting all files in the mozilla binary
directory) doesn't delete your profiles with your data.
Installing in a clean directory is always better !
