This is related to something Eden and Valentin are working on. I vaguely recall something not landing behind a preference like it was supposed to? Could this be a duplicate of that?

I just tried a nightly-to-beta simulation locally, and this works for me.
It's not clear if this was fixed by something that landed over the weekend, or maybe it just happens on osx?
