A tab appears with URL: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/78.0a1/whatsnew/?oldversion=%OLD_VERSION%
Expected results:
%OLD_VERSION% should have been replaced with 77.0a1
, resulting in URL: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/78.0a1/whatsnew/?oldversion=77.0a1
This issue has happened before.
This is low priority, as the Cloudflare Worker has been fixed and now hides the effect from users.

Olivier or Rico might know what's different about their build.

Because this bug's Severity is normal
and has not been changed, and this bug's priority is --
(none,) indicating it has has not been previously triaged, the bug's Severity is being updated to --
(default, untriaged.)

Let's update severity and move this out of untriaged. I'm gonna assume that we do not have a better component than general for this type of issues hence moving it there for the time being. If there is some specific component that is better suited please do help the triage process and move it towards that.

We haven't heard from Olivier and Rico. We suspect this should actually be filed with the Ubuntu package maintainer for the Firefox build that they do.

Sorry for the lack of timely feedback. Is this still an issue? I just installed firefox-trunk 81.0a1 from ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa, and the URL that opens in the first tab is: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/firstrun/.

I think this is about the URL that opens on update, not on firstrun.
