Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:76.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/76.0

Steps to reproduce:

Every morning, when the reminders fire, I get dozens of windows saying:

"This event has recently been changed on the server".

I haven't changed anything on those events, but perhaps thunderbird has?

Actual results:

Lots of windows that need to be closed before work can start.
Not clear what has changed so not clear whether I should discard my changes or overwrite the changes in the server.

Expected results:

No messages unless I actually change anything.

If there is a conflict, show what the conflict is.

Because this bug's Severity is normal and has not been changed, and this bug's priority is -- (none,) indicating it has has not been previously triaged, the bug's Severity is being updated to -- (default, untriaged.)

M Lopez-Ibanez, has your problem been resolved in a more recent Thundebird version (like 68.12.0 or 78.3.2)?

Even though I'm not the reporter - I can confirm that this problem still exists in 78.4.0 (64-bit). Tested on linux and macOS, with different groupware solutions (Zimbra, SOGo, Nextcloud) with - and without TBSync.

I can confirm this issue too. Follows me since older versions and still exists in version 78.4.0.

Is there any chance to solve this bug, @Martin? Quite annoying and people tend to blame the groupware solution. But as stated in comment #3, the problem is absolutely independent from used groupware.

I'm still in 68 waiting for new versions of my essential addons and I don't plan to upgrade to TB78 while TB68 is supported in Ubuntu 18.04, and then I would need to do it during "holidays", since I know it will be extremely time-consuming.

I can see the error every day in 68.10.0 (this is the latest version available in Ubuntu 18.04). I'm almost sure that the "changes" have to do with the reminders, because I have never noticed any differences between events, no matter what option I choose.

It has become one of those annoyances that you suffer 'for the cause of free software' and to resist against the Outlook/Teams mono-culture, which becomes harder and harder everyday as TB loses features and Outlook/Teams gains them.

By the way, this sounds a bit more negative than I wanted it to sound. I just mean that there are some small annoyances in TB (and this is one of them) that are not critical but accumulate and may lead some users to give up, specially given the increased pressure to conform to the monopoly of Outlook/Teams.

I should not have said "TB loses features". I actually think TB has improved a lot in recent releases and I'm looking forward to some of the changes in TB78 (but I know the transition will be painful).

Confirmed here, too, on 78.6.0 x64. Since the start of the year I'm getting this pop-up for an annual recurring event on Dec. 31. And the specific date being referenced in the pop-up is for 2010. Can't "submit my changes," because it just pops up again until I click "discard my changes." But then it's back several times during the day. And again tomorrow...

I do not get this error in 102.15
If somebody still gets the error in 102.15, they should open a new bug report (perhaps referencing this one).
