User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020820 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020820 if You change from one account to the next, then there is not yet a selection of a thread done. In many cases I don't get the blank preview pane, but trash like: "out by trying the software and reporting problems to Bugzilla. Read our Getting Started document for more information on testing Mozilla Mail & News. multiple identities. Unlike prior versions of Netscape, Mozilla supports multiple POP accounts. " There was also a lot of binary code that couldn't be copied ;-) Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Mail 2. Often You see the trash-text in preview-pane now already, since no thread was selected then 3. Otherwise select inbox of a different account 3. Most You will see it at least now Actual Results: You will see trashtext as described above Expected Results: a blank preview-pane
Seeing something similar in 1.4. The preview panel is not updating properly, so I get the remains of what was there before. It only happens when I don't have a message selected. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a; MultiZilla v1.4.0.2) Gecko/20030324
I also see something similar in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030401 The process is: Select an account; instead of thread & preview panes, there is the account menu page. Select a folder or newsgroup: the thread pane is drawn properly, whether empty or containing new messages; but the preview pane, which should be blank (and grey, on my system), still shows the remainder of the server menu page (which has a white background). However, if a message was previously in the pane and I select a folder, the pane is completely erased, as expected. I have seen a small grey rectangle of erasure in the lower-right of this pane; when this was happening, it happened consistently, but currently it is not. Joseph Wright, does that jibe with your observations? This is such an obvious symptom that I expected to see a lot of reports, but I couldn't find any dupes.
Yup, sounds about the same. I couldn't find anything else as well - very odd.
OK; confirming. Even tho the original (Moz1.1) symptom doesn't seem to exist any more, the title of this bug matches the current symptom.
