User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:76.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/76.0
Steps to reproduce:
Insert jpg or png image in composition window using "insert image" menu command or new "insert image" button on toolbar. Tried to select image, but cursor remains as "text selection" tool -- or intermittently, turns to arrow but won't select image. (On iMac running OS 10.10.5.)
Actual results:
Image appears in composition window, but cannot be selected with cursor. In the past, was possible to click on image, and a box would appear around the image, with "handles" at the corners (and midway along the sides) that could be used to manually resize the image by dragging a handle. It's still possible to resize the image using the "Image Properties > Dimensions" menu option, but only numerically (not visually).
Expected results:
Cursor should turn to an arrow when moving over an image in composition window, and clicking on image should produce a bounding box with resizing handles, so that image can be visually (manually) resized. This always worked in TB, but stopped working in v 77.0b2. (On iMac running OS 10.10.5.)

Please note that it's possible to select image by dragging across (and highlighting) it with text editing tool (which then enables the "Image Properties" menu) -- but this is difficult (can require multiple attempts at positioning cursor), and doesn't create the bounding box or enable manual (visual) resizing.

Yes, image will sometimes double (as in bug 1636971) when attempting to select it with text-editing cursor -- and sometimes it's possible to make the duplicate image disapear. In any event, it's not possible to get an arrow cursor and select the image so as to generate a bounding box.

It's also now impossible to select table cells in the compose window -- e.g., when there's a table in a forwarded message (even in the copied header): no bounding box or handles (nor the "circled-x" delete button) are visible or available. Is this related to the image-selection problem noted here?

Does the new fix for Bug 1636971 also resolve this problem?
