163851 - Compact Folders duplicating messages

When the inbox is selected and you go to the Menu File - > Compact Folders
option, it looks like mozilla mail is duplicating all of the messages in the
inbox. However when you look into these messages they are empty. It also marks
these messages as unread.

Having also looked at some of the messages it apperars that they are being
concatenated into a single message too.

I think you're right, altho the title of Bug 137139 isn't exactly right for the 
current symptoms described there.

This seems to occur not all the time, only sometimes. If Inbox is currently
selected, the probability of this phenomenon is significantly higher in contract
to cases where a different folder is currently viewed. Removing the summary file
(msf) and rebuilding it helps. Deleting some of the duplicate messages may trash
your Inbox as some file offsets (message start/end) seem to be interpreted
incorrectly.

This bug effectively renders the "Compact all folders" option useless as it is
too risky.
