if document contains link to stylesheet, ex.:
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="gdhome4.css" title="Modern Style"
id="modern">
it can't be referenced by document.getElementById(...) function. Maybe bug. :)
According to this test case, what you described works fine for me (linux,
athlon, debug trunk build from Tue Aug 20 15:46:05 EDT 2002). If you still have
problems, list the URL where your problem appears.

So there are two possible issues here:
1) document.styleSheets[0] is null when there was no actual sheet loaded. This
is arguably a bug and I'm pretty sure it's already filed.
2) document.styleSheets["modern"] is null. this is not a bug;
document.styleSheets is defined to basically be an array of stylesheets; it
does not have any other properties on it.
Does that about sum up the issue?

No, there is no issue for me. I'm only want Mozilla have associative array for
document.styleSheets? This will make Mozilla more IE compatible. I'm not an IE
fanatic, but the array with literal index for stylesheets have to be. U can say
a 'NO!' to me and I'll never remember that thing. :^)

To glazou to decide what we want to do here, since this is his area of expertise....

What you want, ie document.styleSheets["modern"], is really, using a standard
way of using the standard DOM, document.getElementById("modern").sheet
So this is clearly a wontfix.
