when you surf, and you know a page has java-appleted advertisements, you want to disable java to access this page - but on another to enable it again to work with java-applets (e.g. on stock-exchange-sites the analysis-tools) similar with JS and Cookies to do change preferences, you have to run [Edit][Preferences]...[X]... what about a new menu to switch some preferences directly - ..[Tools][Advanced][Window][Help] ¦¦ \/ [Interpretation] [ ][JAVA] [X][Javascript] [X][Cookies] [X][Plugins] [X][Images] [ ][Sound] [Network] [X][Use Proxy Configuration] (use proxies definied in Preferences or dont) [Cache] [ ][HD-Cache] (how many MB can be specified in Preferences) [X][Keep up to date] [X][Mem-Cache] (how many MB can be specified in Preferences) ... i would add this menu by myself, but i have quite no programming experience (XUL, JS) and the toolbar is not (yet) customisible (bug 15144)
You said it yourself, dupe of Bug 15144. Once you're able to pick and choose what buttons, you'd be able to do exactly like you want. In the mean time, you might want to look for something at mozdev.org that does what you want. I've seen at least one that does toggling of images and scripts.
There is also a bug somewhere about allowing things like Javascript on a per-site basis, somewhat like the current cookie manager system. I think that would also do what you want.
