Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:77.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/77.0

Steps to reproduce:

  • Focus the address bar or find bar (forgot how, ctrl+L and ctrl+F?). I forgot if you get a selection beforehand.
  • Create a text selection (I think I used shift+right or ctrl+shift+right).

Actual results:

Occasionally the selection is invisible. There was no flashing text cursor.

Expected results:

Selection is white (since I'm using Firefox's dark theme). (The cursor is invisible even in normal non-bugged selections.)

In the find bar, pressing the left arrow to get a flashing cursor back worked, but creating a selection via keyboard was again invisible. I forgot if cancelling the selection in the address bar via arrow-left fixes this bug.

I haven't encountered this bug on single-line or multi-line HTML text fields so far.

Hello,

I tried reproducing this issue on the latest Nightly 79.0a1 (2020-06-14), beta 78.0b7 and release 77.0.1 versions but without any luck.

Can you test the issue while in Safe Mode. You can find helpful info here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .

Also a fresh new profile could help. You can find more about creating a new profile here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile .

If possible, you can test this issue on the nightly build as well. Download the build from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/ .
