Attached image Actual.png

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

Using Okta SSO service, with firefox developer edition on macbook pro 2020

  1. Log into Okta
  2. Go into settings > Set Up Security Key or Biometric Authenticator
  3. Click through the prompts to enable touch id
  4. A prompt displays the message "...okta is trying to register a profile, allow or cancel"

Actual results:

The only option available is "Cancel" in the prompt display. I've attached a screenshot below "Actual.png"

Expected results:

The expected behaviour would be to provide an option of what security key to add. I couldn't attach more than one image, so here is a link to the expected behaviour in chrome: https://imgur.com/a/n1ZV8Da

I'm not sure whether this is an issue on the okta end or firefox, but seeing as the prompts do show up in firefox, I'm guessing there is some defect here?

We can not test because we don't have the proper environment.
I'll add a product and component so the corresponding team can take a look at this.
Password Manager team, if this is not the right component please feel free to route this ticket to the corresponding team, thanks!

Component: Untriaged → Password Manager
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

This is about WebAuthn, not password manager.

Component: Password Manager → DOM: Web Authentication
Product: Toolkit → Core

Firefox supports USB security keys on MacOS. TouchID isn't supported for WebAuthn directly at this time, though the SoftU2F project provides that as an option and works with Firefox: https://github.com/github/SoftU2F/

Thanks for the info, I'll give SoftU2F a crack and follow that other issue.
