User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:77.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/77.0
Steps to reproduce:
Tested on a vanilla Firefox on the latest version.
You can observe the faulty behaviour as follows:
Scenario A:
- Launch firefox
- If there are any open windows, close them all. So that the Firefox app still appears in the Dock and is active (indicated by a dot) but no windows are open.
- In a Terminal run
open https://1 https://2
Scenario B:
- Launch firefox
- Keep (at least) one window open. If there are none, create a new one Cmd+N.
- In a Terminal run
open https://1 https://2
Actual results:
Scenario A is the faulty behaviour. Firefox will create two new windows instead of one with two tabs.
Expected results:
Scenario B is how it should be. Create a new window or re-use an old. Within that window create two new tabs.

Running MacOS 12.3.1 with Firefox in the dock, when I open a copy of Firefox by clicking the Firefox icon, I get a window of Firefox, and then is covered with another window of Firefox and a Firefox icon is placed in the non-permanent portion of the Dock. This situation has been on multiple versions of the OS therefore, I believe that the problem is with Firefox.
Below I have entered a report from Warren about this bug that has been around for 2 years. I have only noticed it on the new MacBook with the M1 chip and OS 12.3.1 along with several earlier OS'. This is very anoying when opening imbedded links in an email for example - the original link gets covered by the second version of the application.
