Is your firefox maybe confined to only have access to ~/Downloads? Because that is the case for me.

Using stock Firefox flatpak from Flathub.

(In reply to Óvári from comment #3)

Using stock Firefox flatpak from Flathub.

Me too. But my installation recently changed from being able to see all files on my system to just ~Download.

I can re-enable access to my home directory using flatseal but when I then restart firefox my profile is gone. If that is not the issue you have I will open another bug.

Fresh Linux Mint 20 installation that does not have Flatseal installed.

You can also check permissions without flatseal, like so:

kai@kai-thinkpad ~> flatpak info org.mozilla.firefox//beta --show-permissions | grep filesystems
filesystems=xdg-download;

This should work without using Terminal commands. GNU/Linux users (including those coming from Windows) don't want to muck around with Terminal wizardry.
