Tried to install windows, firefox and avira on another HDD and got the same results.

I was not able to reproduce this bug on my machine win 7x32 with Avira installed. I can close and open Firefox 78.0.2 without any problem and I downloaded successfully files.
Can you please try to uninstall Avira to see if you can use Firefox and please report back the results?
And please attach your about:support.

Thank you for your reply. If i uninstall Avira, it works fine. I tried on another computer and got no issues at all. (Win 7 x64, With Avira and Firefox). Maybe it's a particular hardware combination bug? Because I already tried a fresh windows install on this particular computer and i still got the same issue. It was working fine on firefox 72. Sorry for the late response. I downloaded "Introducing Avira Free Security for Windows" from https://www.avira.com/ and installed it with the default settings on Win7 x64 along with Firefox 80, but no problem at all.

What protections are you using (attaching a screenshot on my end)? I'm guessing Web protection, which requires license activation, may be needed to reproduce the issue. If you use it, can you disable Web protection and see whether the issue is gone or not?
