165325 - chimera hangs while loading quicktime movie

found using 2002.08.27.08. chimera hangs while loading quicktime movie.

spun off from bug 165227 (not sure if it's the same issue). if, when bug 165227
is fixed, this also goes away, then this could prolly be dup'd.

to repro (will attach Sampler log soon):

1. go to ttp://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/spirited_away.html
2. click on the QT image to start loading the movie trailer.
3. when i got the spinning color wheel of doom (hung chimera), i ran Sampler
for about 5sec.

note: once the trailer finished loading, the spinning wheel went away and i
regained control over chimera.

this is also a problem with chimera 0.4, so i don't think it has the same cause
as bug 165227.

could this be the same as bug 151917? CPU Monitor goes massively red during QT
loading.

I think this is different from bug 151917. Sampler shows that all the time is in
QT internals here.

forgot to mention that i saw this on 10.1.5. chris, do you see this as well on 10.2?

chris didn't see this on 10.2 (dual 800mhz cpu G4). for grins, i tried this out
on gayatri's old G3 iMac running 10.2 (more underpowered than my blue and white
G3). didn't see the hang/spinning wheel there either.

looks like this is a 10.1.x vs 10.2 OS issue.

I am not seeing this hang with recent builds on 10.1.5. However, the image for 
"click here to play" flashes briefly then disappears or doesn't show at all.  
Clicking where the image is supposed to be does start the quicktime movie.  

Just sharing what I've been seeing.

i'm no longer seeing the hang/spinning color wheel either, with 2002.08.29.05.
maybe the fix to bug 165227 helped this one as well.
