People

(Reporter: u666945, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click on the address bar.
  3. Type https://translate.google.com/
  4. In the text box, enter the emoji 1️⃣
(this problem occurs on all sites)

Actual results:

The emoji is not displayed correctly.

Expected results:

Full emoji support.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Address Bar

I assume this about https://emojipedia.org/emoji/1%EF%B8%8F%E2%83%A3/ ?

(Also rephrasing the bug summary, as bug reports should describe problems instead of assuming solutions.)

Summary: Full emoji support → Keycap Digit One emoji is not rendered correctly

I apologize if the summary was not very clear, but the problem occurs not only with this emoji but also with others. For example:

Component: Address Bar → DOM: Editor
Product: Firefox → Core
OS: Unspecified → All
Hardware: Unspecified → x86_64

I can repro this on Windows. Applying "font-family: Segoe UI Emoji" workarounds this, but AFAIK this fallback should occur automatically by the OS-wise font system. Changing component as such.

This is basically the same as bug 1371386.

Should we rename that bug or instead track multiple OS-specific bugs?

Feel free to rename it, the issue isn't OS-specific.
