User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

tried logging out and then back into firefox account on both computers.

Actual results:

nothing. Sync not working

Expected results:

Bookmarks and saved logins should have synced with both computers. I am attaching my sync log report, not sure what is going on.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Sync

Hi there, sorry you're having this problem! Those error logs show a network problem, let's try to debug that first:

  1. Can you please try opening https://sync-716-us-west-2.sync.services.mozilla.com in a new tab, and let us know if you see the "It Works!" message?
  2. Please also try to open https://profile.accounts.firefox.com, and let us know if you see some JSON in the response—for instance, you should see "version": "1.179.4".

If neither of those steps work, it might be an IP address block by your network config, or region. If you can access the servers, something else is going on. Do you see any success-sync- logs, or are they all errors? Did you also reset your password when signing in?

Thanks for reaching out!

both step 1 and 2 worked, i see the it works message and the JSON response with the version.

what else could be wrong?

We probably need more logs to see what might be going wrong for you. Can you please follow the instructions at https://wiki.mozilla.org/CloudServices/Sync/File_a_desktop_bug#Get_detailed_Sync_logs, then reproduce the problem (eg, create a new bookmark, then force a sync) then upload the logs here?

Hi,

I just created a bookmark and synced and both computers are showing the bookmark. Not sure what changed but it seems to be working now?

Thanks for getting back to us! We're not sure either, but happy to hear it's working for you now!

Hi,

Once again, the syncing has stopped. When I create a new bookmark or save login credentials to a website, the syncing does not work. What information do you need from me to see what the possible cause could be?

Comment 4 includes details about how to get the information we would need.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

I ran the basic sync log error reporting and am attaching that. I am also attaching the detailed (combined) sync error log (whihc is what you requested in your last comment).

Please keep in mind that i am working between two locations, a Bronx and Brooklyn location. When i installed the add on for the sync log in the Brooklyn PC, and when i went to About:Sync i kept getting a message "fetching account." i waiting maybe an hour and it still said fetching account.

When i went to my PC in the Bronx, and installed the sync addon and went to about:sync., it loaded my account right away (and there was no message saying fetching account). I was able to get this detailed sync log (combined) from my Bronx PC but could not get it from my Brooklyn PC.

Because about:Sync doesn't work in Brooklyn PC, perhaps this is just another insight of why my syncing is not working between both computers. Since i am not sure if my logs will capture this, i am detailing you this here. I hope this helps you troubleshoot the issue further.

What is the problem?

Attached file Basic Sync Log Error

basic sync log error

this is what you requested, i followed instructions in comment 4

The log has things like:

<title>Meshimer - Access Restricted</title>
<div id="wb_SubmitForm">
<form name="WLRForm" method="post" onsubmit="return validate_form(this)" action="//meshimer.com/BlockPage/wl_request.aspx">
<input id="req_type" name="req_type" type="hidden" />
<input name="URL" type="hidden" value="http://api.accounts.firefox.com/v1/oauth/token" />
<input name="REASON" type="hidden" value="matched category unsupported_languages at 100%" />

According to google, Meshimer describe themselves as "the country's leading web filtering and security company", but they are causing the problem. I suggest you stop using them.

You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
