Details

Win2000pro, 192Meg RAM, Plenty of disk
mozilla-win32-installer-sea.exe of 2002-08-29

1) ControlPanel Remove previous mozilla
2) Install SeaMonkey, Full, Select "Use QuickStarter"; Message at end requires
reboot
3) Reboot. After the usual endless churning, I have a 1+1/2 inch Title-Bar
"Alert" in the upper left of the screen. No content so I don't know what I'm
alerted to; close that window. Try to launch Mozilla -- the "Alert" is back, so
I know who caused it! Nothing I try will launch Mozilla into a live session.
4) Remove Mozilla 20020829, Try re-installing without selecting QuickStarter.
This time it doesn't need to reboot, so the Mozilla splash screen is displayed.
The damned "Alert" shows up in the corner again and nothing further happens.

One peculiar, and probably unrelated, quirk: every day when I boot up, there's
a stupid MS Explorer window sitting on my desktop, open to <program
files>/Common. After step (3) Reboot, above, the thing is not shown. Rebooting
after removing 20020829 and going back to 20020823, it's back!
dupe

always remove old mozilla before installing
