1655245 - Endless reminding of calendar reminders

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:78.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/78.0

Steps to reproduce:

• With version 77 and the Lightning plugin: create an appointment, with 2 hours duration and a reminder "2 hours before the appointment".

• Upgrade to version 78. Thus, Lightning is integrated into Thunderbird.

• The appointment's reminder occurs

Actual results:

The reminder was shows, as usually. After clicking on "Dismiss", the reminder comes up again. Clicking a second time on "Dismiss", and it re-appears again. Try "Dismiss all" does not work as well.

Click on "X" to close the window does not work. Closing and re-start Thunderbird does not work: After the restart, the reminder comes up immediately.

The only solution to get rid of the reminder: Edit the appointment and disable all reminders, and save the changes. Now, the reminder window gets closed.

Expected results:

After choosing "Dismiss", the reminder should disappear.

Thunderbird 77.0 was a beta version. You updated to the 78.0 beta and have this problem?

Does it still occur after an update to 79.0b2?

Network or local calendar?

I tried your steps with 78.0b2, didn't update and can't reproduce.

I'm not sure. I wanted to report this problem I've been experiencing so, I did a search for "reminder" and it popped up so many other seemingly relevant bugs. I just listed here bugs not older than a year. But there are definitely, older bugs very close to these in description.

I reverted back to 68.12.1 and the Lightning add-on (68.90) does not have this problem. It appears to work without problems.

I also confirm the problem occurs with 78.0.1. onwards (I didn't test 78.x.x versions below this).
