Since image/avif is a new MIME type, it may be some time before web servers correctly populate the Content-Type headers of AVIF responses. Additionally, web developers may not always have access to this level of configuration for the hosts serving their content. As such, examining the beginning of the content itself to determine whether we are receiving an AVIF image will lead to a more useful behavior for users.

The logic to do this for other image types is in imgLoader::GetMimeTypeFromContent.
