RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1444406

People

(Reporter: x9d79vc3zskk, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/84.0.4147.105 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

When downloading updates for firefox I have consistently noticed by viewing the traffic that it uses port 80. It would inspire more confidence if this was going over https and directly to a mozilla controlled server.

Actual results:

firefox downloads happen over port 80

Expected results:

firefox downloads happen over port 443

I wish to switch to firefox and won't due to this issue. I am sure others would find this very surprising.

Thanks for the report. This is a known issue. Given that the updates themselves are signed, it's not as bad as it seems, but it's still something being addressed in the near term regardless.
