It takes a very different approach. It is worth reading. I tried the *tiny* percent that I could do with the filters yahoo provides and I have stopped a ton of spam: http://www.paulgraham.com/spam.html This guys ideas, IMHO, are the next generation of antispam filters/tools. Mozilla has recieved a lot of good press because it implemented features _for users_ ( rather then just programmers ) like anti-pop-up tools. I think this new generation of filter technology built into the mail/newsreader could win over even more people as it can stop spam and even asian spam. Something people univerally hate and want to stop. The article is about the guy's efforts to implement his ideas in a mail reader Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
When mail/news filters come it would be great if the user could create filters with more then just one condition. For example, searching the body of the message for a list of forbidden words. Additionally being able to combine types of conditions would be good. For example If ( not in to or cc ) AND ( in my address book ) don't chuck, its a joke from a friend
