[Affected versions]:

  • Firefox Release 79.0 (Build ID: 20200720193547)
  • Firefox Beta 80.0b4 (Build ID: 20200804180257)
  • Firefox Nightly 81.0a1 (Build ID: 20200805094932)

[Affected Platforms]:

  • Ubuntu 20.04

[Prerequisites]:

  • Have the Firefox browser installed.
  • Have the Chromium browser installed.

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Open the Chromium browser and save some bookmarks.
  2. Close the Chromium browser.
  3. Open the Firefox browser and press the “Ctrl+Shift+O” keys.
  4. Click on the “Import and Backup” button and select the “Import Data from Another Browser…” option.
  5. Observe the options from the Import Wizard dialog.

[Expected result]:

  • The “Chromium” option is correctly displayed into the Import Wizard dialog.

[Actual result]:

  • The “Chromium” option is not displayed.

[Notes]:

  • This issue is not reproducible on Ubuntu 18.04 and Linux MX 4.19 distros.
  • Also, this issue is reproducible on the preinstalled Firefox browser 75.0 (Build ID: 20200720193547).
  • Attached a screen recording with the issue.

This is really a migration issue, could be that some of the Chromium paths have changed in Ubuntu 20.

Severity: S3 → --
Component: Bookmarks & History → Migration

I suspect this is because Chromium is installed as a snap/flatpak or some other new package format (an existing bug) but to confirm can you attach the contents of chrome://version/ from Chromium?

Hi Matthew, please see the attached screenshot of “chrome://version/” content.

Thanks, the screenshot confirms that it's a Snap so this is a duplicate of bug 1467094
