User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0

Steps to reproduce:

Used about:preferences.

Actual results:

It hurts and sometimes gives me migraines.

It has a scrolling main section jammed up against a non-scrolling sidebar. In about:preferences, with 16 point Andika for readability, they overlap.

Expected results:

Maybe you could put some space between the two so it doesn't hurt as much.

related to bug 1610081

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Add-ons Manager
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

Moving to Firefox :: Preferences since this is a follow up to bug 1610081.

Component: Add-ons Manager → Preferences
Product: Toolkit → Firefox

The screenshot is from the add-ons manager, not the prefs. Does the problem still affect both?

Yes.

Flags: needinfo?(erwinm)

I was only able to change the font size on about:preferences by changing settings in Windows. I tried to get the sidebar to size correctly but was unable to figure anything out within the short amount of time I could allocate for investigating.

Severity: -- → S3
Priority: -- → P3

I use userChrome.css for that.

I use userChrome.css for that.

As a temporary workaround for about:preferences, you should be able to increase the width of the sidebar by setting width on .navigation to a value that looks good to you.

I haven't figured out how to do that.

Checking the preferences page source: <vbox class="main-content" flex="1" align="start">

I think it might work better with align="center"...? As it is it's hard left-justified and all in the left side of the window on my screen.

No, I can't seem to set width or alignment.

Can't reproduce it in Version 80.

Also a problem in about:memory

Also a problem in about:memory

Can you elaborate a bit? There's no sidebar in about:memory that I can see...

Click "measure" and a sidebar appears on the right side. It's not flush against the text, but still visually uncomfortable.

Flags: needinfo?(erwinm)

Tried Mozregression.

The old design also used a sidebar, but had more visual contrast, so it never gave me trouble. The new design appeared at about August 8th, 2017.

Mozregression errored out, but this seems to be caused by bug 1377167.

Which implemented this:

https://wiki.mozilla.org/QA/Photon_Preferences_Visual_Refresh

Which doesn't actually describe the changes...
