[Notes]:

• I can not find reliable steps to reproduce this issue or what triggers it. The steps written here are what worked for a while, but I have not been able to reproduce the issue using them again. The issue has been intermittently observed since.

[Affected Versions]:

• Firefox RC 80 (Build ID: 20200817172600)

[Affected Platforms]:

• Linux Mint 19.2

[Prerequisites]:

• Have the latest Firefox Beta 80 en-US build installed.
• You are enrolled in any of the experiment’s branches.

[Steps to reproduce]:

1. Open the browser with the profile from prerequisites and go to YouTube.
2. Open a video.
3. Hover the PiP icon and press Ctrl + Shift + ].
4. Close PiP to display the video in the initial state.
5. Hover the PiP icon and press Ctrl + Shift + ] again.

[Expected results]:

• PiP opens again.

[Actual results]:

• PiP doesn’t open anymore.

[Additional Notes]:

• This issue is reproducible for all the branches of the Picture-in-Picture experiment.
• The issue might be reproducible for all platforms, but without knowing the exact steps, this is not certain. It has been observed on Windows 10 when using the shortcut while the video is on pause.
• The issue is reproducible in Default view, Theater mode and Miniplayer. For the same video, each of these three have a “first” time PiP is opened.
• Attached is a recording of the issue. It also displays the error messages displayed when the shortcut does work.
