ESR installers record their version in a dedicated registry key, which was added in bug 726781 to make it possible for deployment systems to quickly and reliably determine that an ESR is installed. In general our registry keys are considered internal and not stable, but considering this one's purpose, it has to be a stable interface. It should therefore be documented as such.
