Linux, apprunner shift-characters like '#' and '!' show up in password dialogs.
Summary: Shift characters show up in password text fields
sorry, I meant text fields like you see at bugzilla, http://mail.yahoo.com, etc.

Reassigning to Steve.
assigned to akkana, cc kathy and pav. This seems to be Linux only (sujay or kathy, please verify this does not occur on Mac.)
typing works fine on Macintosh (I get '*' for each character) However, I have noticed some peculiarities which should probably be a separate bug--typing the following in a password field appear to generate characters (add a '*'): pageup pagedown escape insert/help (above the forward delete key) numlock/clear (on the keypad)

Akkana, this one happens to be assigned to you at the moment. Are you the right person to add '!' to the virtual key table we discussed previously? If not, could you reassign this bug to the right person? I have opened bug 16940 for the XP API to disable input methods for password fields.
