The application update procedure does not run the maintenance service installer to update the service, instead it copies the new binary over and then invokes it to update its own service registration. This works fine, except that it leaves out the maintenance service uninstaller; since that file is generated by NSIS there's no way to update it without running the maintenance service installer.

This isn't a serious problem because the maintenance service uninstaller is almost never touched, but it finally was for 1654913, and that's how we noticed this problem.

Not sure if this is related, but I know I've seen some systems with version 80 Firefox and version 54 updater. We have the whole shebang from 54 up to 78 or maybe higher, with a variety of different versions of Firefox and Thunderbird. No rhyme or reason.
