Steps to reproduce:
When there is the distribution ini file when you serach on ddg it adds ?=canonical or other things. This should be optional, same as t=ffab

That identifier is so that Canonical/Ubuntu can monetize DuckDuckGo searches.
If you don't want to have it, you'll have to use a different version of Firefox or install a different DuckDuckGo engine.

It still should be optional. Enabled by default, but optional.

You are free to install a different DuckDuckGo without monetization, but as long as the browser is provided by Canonical (or Mozilla for that matter), it's going to have monetization in it for the default engines to pay for the development of those products.
