Details

It turns out that some people are being unexpectedly affected by Windows compatibility mode. We might need to investigate why the mode is activated.

Do we already detect that we start in this mode? If not, it might be worth starting there and adding some telemetry around it.

I don't know whether such detection exists. :philipp got some bug reports from people and that's how I got it.

My understanding is compat mode means that windows APIs will lie to us about what version we're running under, but you can find out the "real" version from e.g. the registry, see https://stackoverflow.com/a/57326 (seems easier to me than the other answers but ymmv).

I was one of them, but I manually set it myself, so I don't think Firefox activates the mode.
