A credit card's issuer can be determined by the first six or eight digits of a card number (the Issuer Identification Number, IIN). Many web payment UIs, like Stripe's, do this.
Whether the Card Type should be editable and allowed to disagree with the Issuer Identification Number is a separate UX conversation.
