While debugging a test failure, I came across a few things in the debugger codebase that should be fixed. Since each of them are pretty small, I'm using this bug as a mixed bag (I'll still have proper individual commits for each fixes)

The function isn't used anywhere in the codebase, so we can safely remove it.
