STR:

  1. Create a new profile, or for an existing profile, clear all Google site data.
  2. Open a new tab, and search for something that has ads.
  3. Acknowledge the agreement that Google displays.
  4. Click on an ad.

Expected Results

  • The browser.search.ad_click scalar is set to "1".

Actual Results

  • The browser.search.ad_click scalar is not set.

Subsequent searches and ad clicks will be recorded correctly. It appears that accepting the agreement is seen as a change of page, so we stop tracking ads there. Although a subsequent page load then comes in, that is seen as loading from the same location so we don't re-enable tracking.

Adrian, why is this blocking the shortcuts QA bug, it seems unrelated to shortcuts. Is it just because it was found during shortcuts QA?

Yes. It was also included into the original shortcuts QA sign-off as well since it was search-untriaged at that time, but it has no bearing on search shortcuts further sign-offs (other as a known issue).

As far as I can tell, this is now working fine.
