The following Firefox probes will expire in the next major Firefox nightly release: version 85 [1].
SCROLL_INPUT_METHODS
APZ_ZOOM_ACTIVITY
APZ_ZOOM_ACTIVITY_RDM
APZ_ZOOM_PINCHSOURCE
apz.scrollwheel_overshoot
What to do about this:
- If one, some, or all of the metrics are no longer needed, please remove them from their definitions files (Histograms.json, Scalars.yaml, Events.yaml).
- If one, some, or all of the metrics are still required, please submit a Data Collection Review [2] and patch to extend their expiry. There is a shorter form for data collection renewal [3].
If you have any problems, please ask for help on the #fx-metrics Slack channel or the #telemetry Matrix room at https://chat.mozilla.org/#/room/#telemetry:mozilla.org. We'll give you a hand.

I would appreciate if we could keep APZ_ZOOM_ACTIVITY and APZ_ZOOM_PINCHSOURCE. I use both to track the adoption of the feature and to decide on further actions (e.g. compared to reflow zoom)

Martin, do you know how long you'll be using these probes (i.e. what version I should update the expiry to)?

Most major features we try to set to never expire, so I would like to do the same here. If that's not possible, I'd like to track them for at least half a year (Fx 92).

Thanks.
I asked :esmyth about the SCROLL_INPUT_METHODS and apz.scrollwheel_overshoot probes that were added for scrolling experimentation and he requested I renew those through Fx88. So I'll put up a patch to renew all of these.

As requested by :esmyth who is driving the experimentation.

Also remove APZ_ZOOM_ACTIVITY_RDM which doesn't seem desired any more.
Depends on D95532

Data collection renewal request for D95533
Sorry, the short form cannot be used for permanent extensions. Please use the full data review request for making probes permanent.

Data collection renewal request for D95533
PRELIMINARY NOTES:
ni?Botond to confirm you're up for owning these probes permanently.
Non-expiring probes benefit from automated tests ensuring that the code that collects to them continues to do so. I recommend filing a follow-up to write such tests.
DATA COLLECTION REVIEW RESPONSE:
Is there or will there be documentation that describes the schema for the ultimate data set available publicly, complete and accurate?
Yes.
Is there a control mechanism that allows the user to turn the data collection on and off?
Yes. This collection is Telemetry so can be controlled through Firefox's Preferences.
If the request is for permanent data collection, is there someone who will monitor the data over time?
Yes, Botond Ballo is responsible.
Using the category system of data types on the Mozilla wiki, what collection type of data do the requested measurements fall under?
Category 2, Interaction.
Is the data collection request for default-on or default-off?
Default on for all channels.
Does the instrumentation include the addition of any new identifiers?
No.
Is the data collection covered by the existing Firefox privacy notice?
Yes.
Does there need to be a check-in in the future to determine whether to renew the data?
No. This collection is permanent.
