Details
Windows opening when reading mail from a MS Exchange Server are opening in the disconnected second monitor. Steps: (1) take your TiBook (OS 10.2) to work and connect a 21" second monitor, making it your main monitor. (2) use Mozilla (1.1) to read your webmail. (3) disconnect your second monitor and go home. (4) use Mozilla to read your webmail -> messages windows pop-up off-screen.
Patrick, do you turn your computer off before performing step 3? I assume you do.

After restarting, the windows do pop-up in the visible area. I don't usually restart. So should I: (1) always keep Mozilla on the main screen, i.e, external monitor @ work (2) always keep Mozilla on the TiBook's sceen?
Patrick, is your computer really designed so that you can plug and unplug monitors while it is on? I would be very surprised if it is.

Disconnecting monitors, I put the computer to sleep first. Connecting monitors, I either put the computer to sleep or use the System Prefences->Displays preference panel to "Detect Displays". In either case, the computer reconfigures itself for the new monitor configuration. Remarkably, it even "remembers" the settings for previously connected displays (21" monitor, multiple projectors, and S-video out to name a few), and re-sets things like resolution, mirroring, etc. Normally, I log out before changing the monitor configuration. Most applications seem to respond correctly, not opening windows off-screen. Some don't: MS Outlook Exchange (running in Classic mode) does not, XDarwin needs to be restarted. If I encounter a problem, I'll try to following (in order): (1) restart application (2) log out (if I forgot to do so before putting the computer to sleep) (3) restart the computer. So far, Mozilla is the only application that requires a restart of the computer.
Could this be related to bug 101843?
